Merging Technologies makes users Hapi

Providing the same Ravenna/AES67 connectivity as its father, Horus, Merging Technologies’ new small-format networked convertor/audio interface, Hapi, has been designed to function as a primary interface for smaller systems – where less inputs and outputs are needed – as well as an accessory for a Horus system where control room I/O is required.

Like Horus, Hapi is able to carry the same AD8D/AD8DP and DA8/DA8P analogue cards, providing the same sound familiar to Horus users. Utilising Ravenna, the unit is able to provide connectivity of all inputs and outputs across standard networks using off-the-shelf network equipment, and because it’s been designed for installation into hard to reach places, comes with a web-browser based control interface included, allowing any web-enabled device on the network to control it.

Additionally, Hapi can be synchronised to video input (black burst or trilevel HD), word clock, network (PTP), AES-EBU, ADAT, SPDIF, Madi or internal clock. It can also serve as network grandmaster (PTP).

Also new from the manufacturer is the Vcube family. Dubbed ‘the video tool for the audio operator’, VCube is available in packs ranging from software only – reliant on a computer graphic card output to provide the picture – to colouring suite grade I/O for more demanding applications.

The family comprises five models: LE Player – for fundamental functions such as ADR, screening, live events, and simple video referencing; XE Player – an enhanced version of the LE, with a video player for job preparation, finalisation, conversion and transcoding; SE player/recorder – with an added SDI and analogue video/audio recording function; and VCube HD Turnkey – a bespoke chassis capable of being loaded with any of the above packages. Pro version of the LE, XE, and SE are also available, allowing users to synchronise VCube to external machines via Video Ref Sync I/O with LTC, RS-422, Midi MC, and optionally bi-phase.
