Modernised AEA KU4 mic launched

Engineering Associates (AEA) has unveiled the KU4 unidirectional ribbon mic, a modern interpretation of the company’s ‘classic’ RCA KU3A high-sensitivity microphone.
The KU4 includes features designed for modern studio production, including a suppressed rear lobe and a reduced proximity bass boost intended to facilitate closer miking. The design also boasts a low-tuned ribbon for undistorted bass.
Other features include a lightly-tensioned low mass ribbon producing a frequency response up to 40kHz, a supercardoid pattern for rear rejection, high-bandwidth frequency response, and a custom AEA transformer featuring neodymium magnets.
