MXL launches Aria mic exclusively for non-US market

US-based microphone manufacturer MXL has introduced the Aria studio condenser microphone specifically for sale outside of the United States. The microphone – said by the manufacturer to be ‘the first in a planned series to bridge the gap between vintage tube and solid state microphone technology’ – is particularly targeted towards Asia.

Boasting a gray metallic body with black chrome trim, the affordably-priced Aria offers a large diaphragm capsule with a cardioid polar pattern, a -10db pad and low frequency roll-off. It is described by Perry Goldstein, MXL sales and marketing manager, as ‘first and foremost a vocal microphone’, with a ‘sweet, natural sound, designed to compliment the human voice’. The Aria also ships with a wood case, shock mount, cleaning cloth, and mic clip.

Also new to the market from the manufacturer is the Black Widow short-frame condenser, which is aimed at home recording and project studio applications. Inside the black chromed microphone is 32mm large diaphragm 6-micron gold sputtered capsule, while features include a three-position attenuation switch offering a choice between 0db, -10dB, -20dB. The mic comes with a flight case and shock mount.

Finally, the V67 Recording Kit comprises a matched set of several MXL microphones, mounts and adaptors designed and geared towards specific recording applications such as vocals and instruments. All of the components are shipped in a road-ready protective case.

Again aimed chiefly at semi-professional users, the Kit includes the manufacturer’s V67GS large-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone plus two V67N condenser mics, mounts, adaptors and a travel case.
