NECs environmentally friendly display solutions

NEC Display Solutions has added to the MultiSync X-series range with the slim X461S and X551S 46-inch and 55-inch LCD public displays, featuring LED backlights.
Replacing traditional CCFL, LED backlighting allows for lower energy consumption. In addition to the LCD displays’ slim design, they are lighter and reportedly use no environmentally hazardous substances, adhering to NEC’s ‘Green Vision’ campaign.
The MultiSync EX series of desktop displays is also new from the company, featuring environmentally friendly LED backlight technology and a human sensor feature.
Dubbed ‘office cool’, the lightweight MultiSync EX231W meets the requirements of the ‘NEC Green Vision’ campaign. Featuring HD wide format, two digital inputs, DisplayPort and DVI-I, the range also includes a USB interface that can be used to connect a USB camera, suitable for videoconferencing.
The models feature an ambient light and a human sensor, the latter reducing energy consumption by putting the monitor into standby mode as soon as the user moves away from the display.
Meanwhile, the company announced the release of the MultiSync X461UNV, a new 46-inch public display with a narrow bezel designed for video wall installations.
The NEC MultiSync X461UNV is aimed at budget conscious users, and is suitable for applications where high brightness is not required.
The option portfolio includes built-in PCs, various mounting solutions, and a colour calibration kit. An ambient light sensor claims that optimum brightness is automatically maintained at all times, reportedly reducing power consumption to the absolute minimum whilst enhancing the public display's usability.
With SNMP support, users benefit from management and monitoring options via the network in addition to the free of charge NEC LAN control software. A range of connection options including DisplayPort, DVI-D, HDMI and analogue interfaces are included.
Finally, the company announced the update to its MultiSync X461UN 46-inch LCD public display, featuring a narrow bezel.
The ‘Dark Edge Compensation’ update, referred to as ‘EdgeComp’, is a function providing a more even brightness distribution. A DisplayPort connection allows higher bandwidths and longer cables. SNMP support increases the bandwidth of network-based control and monitoring options for LCD public displays, making installations more flexible and cost effective.
