New universal audio installation multicore from Klotz

German manufacturer Klotz Cables has launched the OmniFIX OX22AY, a product it describes as ‘a very reasonable and easy to process multicore cable for stages, studios and fixed installations’.

According to the manufacturer, the new cable is suitable for analogue and digital audio and has from two up to 24 pairs. The OX22AY is reportedly particularly suited to fixed installation due to its overall foil shielding and flame retardant PVC outer jacket (acc. to IEC 60332-1-2).

The consecutively numbered pair jackets together with colour coding in groups of eight are features designed to make the assembly easier and labelling dispensable. Foil pair shields bonded to the pair jackets reportedly enable simplified and rapid processing. Klotz reports that the tinning of the stranded signal and screen wires also supports time saving. The manufacturer claims its new cable delivers ‘low attenuation for digital signals (only 4.3dB/100m at 3MHz) and outstanding jitter performance’, which it states makes the cable ideal for very long cable runs.

As a further benefit, OX22AY reportedly offers extremely low capacitance (47pF/m) in analogue signal transmission making it suitable for the broadcast environment.

The OX22AY is available as two, four, six, eight, 12, 16 and 24-pair models.
