Next-ProAudio seeks to overcome acoustic problems

With the promise that it will ‘overcome most of the acoustic problems usually found in vertical array systems’, Portuguese company Next-ProAudio has announced the LX212 three-way fully horn-loaded, axially symmetric line array element.
Reportedly optimised for operating in large, difficult reverberant environments, the LX212 can be completed with an additional dedicated subwoofer and power rack – thus operating as a complete touring system package. Key features include 90-degrees of horizontal constant dispersion control, plus the combination of a ‘number of technologies’ to produce a coherent vertical wave-front and consistent horizontal coverage over a wide frequency range down to 280Hz.
The mid frequency horn employs a 10-inch driver, while the high frequency section consists of two 1.4-inch exit HF compression drivers with 2.5-inch voice coils mounted to a dedicated wave-shaping device.
In addition, the LX212 mid-frequency section employs a Correction Phase Device, intended to equalise the speaker’s cone acoustical path lengths and thereby minimise high-frequency cancelations and distortion caused by phase differences. This device and the associated horn have been optimised to create a high compression ratio, raising conversion efficiency to reach a sensitivity of 115dB at 1W/1m in full space.
Meanwhile, the bass section makes use of two 12-inch speakers with 3-inch voice coils, which are strategically placed on either side of the speaker in a dipolar horn arrangement. The speaker transducers employed are exclusively from B&C.
