Nugen speeds up workflows on next-gen Loudness Toolkit

The next generation of Nugen Audio’s Loudness Toolkit is promising to hand users ‘powerful workflow enhancements’ over the existing suite – particularly when used in combination with NLEs (non-linear editors). The Nugen Loudness Toolkit 2 comprises the VisLM-H 2 loudness meter, LM-Correct 2 quick-fix tool and ISL 2 true-peak limiter. Additionally, Nugen has unveiled stereo and DSP versions of its True Peak Limiting Tools.

Changes to the VisLM-H loudness meter include a new resizable user interface with zoomable and scrollable logging and history, while a newly introduced program, ReMEM loudness overdub mode, permits overdub changes and recalculates loudness on the fly. Additionally, offline loudness calculations can now be imported into the real-time VisLM meter.

LM-Correct 2 now offers single-click analysis and correction through quick-check and correction processing at up to ‘100 times faster than real time’. This includes combined programme and short-term or momentary loudness correction that will reportedly ensure compliance with evolving future regulations. DynApt dynamic adaption technology has also been introduced. The feature brings loudness range (LRA) correction into a DAW timeline for quicker re-versioning and dynamic content repurposing. Additionally, when used on the master bus, users will be able to ‘set-and-forget’ the upgraded LM-Correct2 tool to perform true-peak compliance at all times.

Loudness Toolkit 2 is available as a plugin suite that also incorporates stand-alone versions of VisLM-H 2 and LM-Correct 2. Supported plug-in formats for VisLM-H 2 and ISL 2 include AAX, RTAS, VST2, VST3, and AU. VisLM-H 2, ISL 2, and LM-Correct 2 are also available as Avid Audio suite plugins. An additional version of the suite providing HDX-compatible versions of the suite’s processors fro Pro Tools users is expected in due course.

The new offerings as part of the manufacturer’s True Peak Limiting Tools are based on its ISL 2 limiter. The new versions include ISL 2st and ISL 2st DSP, designed specifically for music production and other applications that require only mono or stereo content. The third version, ISL 2 DSP has been designed specifically for power users of Avid Pro Tools HDX who require 5.1 and 7.1 true peak limiting.
