Ohm shakes your body

Going ‘where no sub has gone before’, Ohm’s Infra-Sub has now been unveiled. The cabinet houses two extra long excursion 18-inch drivers with a continuous power handling of 2,400W producing a max SPL of 136dB. Capable of outputting down to 21Hz, the infra-sub can couple with the manufacturer’s TRS-218 making it ideally suited to bass-heavy electronic music such as dubstep or drum and bass.

Ohm recommends using the subwoofer in the ratio of one per two TRS-218s, with two TRS-212s per stack to transform an ordinary gig into an ‘unrivalled listening experience’ with ‘chest-rattling’ bass.

A second release from Ohm aims to replace the need for a number of individual speakers, and as a result, wiring and installation costs. The manufacturer’s OS-12 ohmnisphere loudspeaker system features a 12-inch woofer coupled to a ‘conical radiator’ and four high frequency dynamic ring radiators – to project sound out over the full horizontal spectrum, forming a 360- x 140-degree coverage pattern.

Designed for installation into airports, gymnasiums, factories or clubs, the input panel contains two flying eyes and two Speakon NL4FC connectors. There are two ceiling-mount suspension points, and in environments with a suspended ceiling, the upper hemisphere can be partially or completely hidden.

Last up from the British manufacturer is the Daisy range of Class-D amplifier modules. Housed in an ‘extruded aluminium pod’, the unit has built-in DSP and output power up to 3,800W, in a 3U format, and can be coupled with up to five hardware modules yet still fit in a 19-inch rack.

The integrated 96kHz DSP can be accessed via Ethernet, USB or Ohm’s Spyder software. There is also an XLR input and link, which can accept a mono analogue or stereo AES digital signal.

The front panel has a settings display, signal LEDs and pre-set and channel mute buttons. Mains power is via a Powercon, and outputs are on eight-pole Speakon connectors.

There are four models in the range; the DM-1 (1-channel), DM-2 (2-channel), DM-3 (3-channel) that each produce 2,500W output on the first channel followed by 800W for subsequent channels, and the DM-4 (2-channel) providing dual 800W outputs.
