Optocore transceiver intends substantial cost saving
Published: PRODUCTS
Optocore’s new ‘unique’ transceiver for its DD2FR-FX optical Madi device has been designed to accept both multi-mode and single-mode fibre signals.
As a result of this feature, the transceivers can connect to both single mode and multi-mode third party Madi link partners with the same multi-mode 50-micrometre/62.5- micrometre cable. The manufacturer expects that this will result in ‘substantial’ cost saving for customers.
According to Optocore, the new Madi transceiver provides customers with more flexibility, and means that they no longer need to order the DD2FR-FX with the appropriate Madi transceiver version to match their equipment. Customers can now switch from multi-mode to single-mode Madi transmission without the need for an expensive transceiver replacement.
The development of the DD2FR-FX required a re-engineering of Optocore’s previous Madi network device in order to enable it to function within the new Cat-5 based Sane environment with its more powerful 2Gbit fibre network.
The manufacturer reports that the transceiver will be incorporated as a standard feature in every DD2FR-FX device.
