P Audio unveils a plethora of new transducers

P Audio has extended its range of high compression high frequency drivers with the unveiling of the SC series. Comprising three neodymium and three ferrite models, based upon 400W, 240W and 120W peak power handling capacities, all six models come with titanium domes and mylar surrounds. All models feature bolt on mounting styles.
Integrating 1-inch exit diameters, the SC1-F (ferrite) and SC1-N (neodymium) drivers operate within a 1.2kHz to 20kHz frequency range, with a recommended crossover at 1.5kHz. An optimised geometry PET suspension is coupled to the titanium dome, whose higher magnetic energy reportedly ensures greater thermal reliability and reduced higher frequency compression.
The SC2-F1.4 and SC2-F1.4 versions are large format 1.4-inch exit diameter drivers with enhanced time domain response. Designed for high performance two- and three-way speaker systems, the SC2 can be matched to SC horns with a 1.4-inch throat diameter.
Offering the lowest power handling capacity, the SC3-F and SC3-N models utilise a colloidal suspension in the magnetic gap to improve system time domain response, reportedly resulting in mid-band intelligibility and improved reliability.
P Audio has also developed five new horns to compliment the SC drivers. Each horn is a constant directivity design and all SC horn models are fully rotatable.
A second new product family from the manufacturer is the GM or ‘Golden Master’ series of low frequency woofers. Consisting of seven neodymium models in total, each woofer incorporates FEM designed neodymium magnetics, precision rectangular ribbon/wound wire coil designs and triple aluminium demodulation rings.
The GM6-50N and GM8-65N 6.5-inch and 8-inch models incorporate 2-inch and 2.5-inch voice coils respectively and are rated at 200W and 250W AES power for integrating into vented enclosures such as mid-bass applications and floor monitors.
The 12-inch GM12-88N and GM12-100N versions come with 3.5-inch and 4-inch voice coils respectively and as such differ in power handling capacity, producing 700W and 800W AES. Linear and symmetrical stiffness behaviour of the suspension reportedly compliments linear coil motion, whilst the spider is composed of a silicon laminate providing what the manufacturer describes as symmetrical displacement and reliable voicecoil positioning.
Similarly, the GM15-88N and GM15-100N woofers are 15-inch designs with the same power handling parameters, capable of producing 98dB sensitivity.
Largest of all, the GM18-100N is the 18-inch woofer with a 4-inch voice coil capable of 1,200W AES power handling capacity within a 30Hz to 200Hz frequency range.
All members of the GM family can reportedly be further optimised when using a fourth order Butterworth filter tuned immediately below the enclosure vent frequency. All GM models are also available in ferrite magnetics designs as well.
