Phoenix in your pocket – AEQ extends audiocodec range
Published: PRODUCTS
AEQ’s Phoenix family of IP codecs for internet or 3G networks has been extended with the arrival of Phoenix Pocket, described by the manufacturer as a ‘high quality and reduced cost iPhone app, specifically designed to work like a professional OB audiocodec over an Apple unit’.
Phoenix Pocket joins a broad range of codecs encompassing mobile versions for reporters and rack-mounted models for studio-based applications, including Phoenix Mobile, Mercury, Phoenix Lite and Phoenix Studio. The iPhone app allows users to establish a high quality bidirectional connection between a Phoenix AudioCodec and an iPhone, either through the 3G mobile network or Wi-Fi, delivering G722 audio quality.
The connection is established against one Phoenix Studio, Phoenix Mobile or another family unit connected to the internet using the services of the public SIP Server that AEQ provides for free.
An adapter cable is also available for connecting an external microphone and professional headphones.
