Pocket sized tools

A Smartphone application has been developed by Brusi Acoustics, specifically tailored to sound and lighting professionals. PAcalculate is a multi-language, multi-platform app with calculators and utilities capable of simulating theoretical values of, for example, sound coverage and attenuation.

The free to download application can be installed on iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8 and Blackberry devices from their respective app stores and runs offline on devices (no internet connection required). Calculator functions for audio include SPL, SPL addition, ceiling speaker coverage, air absorption, time to distance (and vice versa), frequency to wavelength (and vice versa) with full and half lambda options for arrays, Q factor to bandwidth conversion, dBu-dBV-Volts and speaker cable losses (low and high impedance). Lighting professionals benefit from a DMX calculator as well as RGBW and CMY LED emulations.

There are several unrelated functions also embedded within the app that would likely prove useful for integrators and installers, such as calculators for Ohm’s law, KVA, BPM to time, and conversion of weights and measures.
