Taiwanese manufacturer Phonic has added two patent-pending features to its Powerpod line of powered mixers – one-touch feedback elimination and a USB recording and playback module.
The Powerpod 620 R, 740 FR, 1062 FR and 1082 FR now all offer a USB port (A-series) that allows dual mono or stereo recordings to be made on any portable USB flash disc or hard drive. The Powerpod 740 FR, 1062 FR and 1082 FR also feature feedback elimination, a one-touch system that allows quick and effective seek control of feedback in the main output signal.
While stand-alone feedback elimination devices can be added to a set-up, the FR’s feedback silencer intelligently searches and destroys feedback. The system incorporates a total of 12 feedback eliminating filters – eight set to seek out and lock onto feedback frequencies, while another four dynamically seek and destroy feedback. Phonic has also added a recording and playback device to the Powerpod FR series, with a USB reader/writer included on the panel of the mixer. A rehearsal or gig can be recorded onto any standard, formatted USB flash drive or portable hard drive. Recordings can then be played back through the Powerpod, or transferred to a computer and burnt onto CD.
Each of the Powerpod FRs retains low-noise preamps, line-level and super high impedance inputs for maximum versatility, as well as 32-bit digital effect processors with 16 effects and parameter control. The 620 FR offers 200W of power per channel, while the 740 FR will offer 220W per channel (both at 4Ω). The Powerpods 1062 FR and 1082 FR will offer 300W and 400W, respectively.
