RCF has unveiled a new range of ‘high value power-to-cost’ two-way amplifiers called the IPS Series. The manufacturer is now also shipping a number of models from its V-Max series of high-power near-field and mid-field speaker systems, as well as the HDL15-AS and Sub 8005-AS active subwoofers.
The IPS series amps feature Class-AB and Class-H designs in a ‘compact and lightweight’ 2U format. Common features to all models include independent gain controls, signal/clip and fault LEDs, serteo XLR inout and output link, 1.4V to 0.775V input sensitivity switch, mono-stereo-bridge switch, and NL4 Speakon connectors.
The series currently comprise four Class-HD two-channel models. The IPS 700 delivers 2x300W RMS at 4-ohm (600W RMS bridged at 8-ohm), the IPS 1700 a 2-channel amp producing 2x450W RMS (900W RMS bridged), IPS 2700 delivering 2x1,100W RMS (2,200W RMS bridged), and the IPS 3700 which delivers 2x1,500W RMS (3,000W RMS bridged). A four-channel model named the QPS 9600 has also made its debut, and delivers 4x2,400W RMS at 2-ohm and 3,000W RMS bridged at 4-ohm.
Moving on to speakers, the V-Max range is set to encompass a total of seven enclosures, three of which are now available, and has been aimed at a broad range of applications.
The first is the V35, incorporating a 15-inch woofer with 4-inch voice coil, a 3-inch neodymium HF section based on a constant directivity CMD horn, and a reported 132dB maximum SPL with a power rating of 900W. Slightly larger but still compact is the trapezoidal V45, boasting two 15-inch woofers with 4-inch ferrite motor voice coils, a 4-inch titanium constant directivity HF section, a maximum SPL of 137dB and a reported power rating of 1,800W AES. Finally, the V218-S is a double 18-inch bass reflex subwoofer delivering 141dB maximum SPL, 3,000W AES and response down to 30Hz. All three enclosures boast birch plywood construction with a weather resistant polyuria finish and epoxy powder-coated front grille.
Also new is the active SUB 800-AS, featuring a hyper-vented 21-inch woofer with 4.5-inch inside/outside voice coils. The integrated digital amplifier module reportedly delivers 2,500W, resulting in 137dB maximum SPL and a frequency response of 27Hz to 120Hz. Onboard DSP with presets and time delay control is also offered, while the sub can be used in a variety of configurations including a vertical or horizontal position, or as the foundation of a pole-mounted or stacked system.
Finally, the active HDL15-AS is a compact, flyable subwoofer designed for use as part of an HDL 10-A flown array. Comprising a 15-inch woofer with a 3.5-inch voice coil, the sub is rated at 2,000W and delivers 133dB maximum SPL. Constructed out of tour-grade Baltic birch, the cabinet also includes M20 flying points.
