RCF mixes it up

Having unveiled its first analogue mixers in Bali in late 2013, RCF has now created the E Series. Comprising three models, the E 12, E 16 and E 24 incorporate six, 12 and 18 mic preamps respectively, as well as a semi-parametric 3-band EQ with one mid-band on the E12, and 4-band semi-PEQs featuring two mid-bands for selectable Q on the E16 and E 24 models. Other features include a ‘single-control’ dynamic compressor and an internal Z.Core DSP FX floating point. Additionally, the DSP unit contains 100 predefined presets with 40 reverbs, 20 delays, 20 modulation effects and 20 user locations for instant recall. Derived from the digital M-series, the unedited reverb algorithms - up to 11 seconds – aim to provide transparent sound environments with delay, chorus and flange effects. The mixers also include four or six (E 16 and E 24) aux sends on the E12 and E 16/E 24 respectively, 60mm precision faders on ther E12 or 100mm faders for the E16 and E 24, and a stereo USB port for audio recording and playback.
Away form the E Series, RCF’s M 08 and M 18 digital mixers now benefit from enhanced functionality thanks to an update to its Mix Remote application software. Enhancements include amplifier modelling simulations, bringing the total number of models to 15, together with four additional Stomp Box style effects. In addition, the stereo file player has been expanded to provide four-channel playback, creating a backing track in stereo along with a click track for direct routing to headphones. By enabling LAN network bridging on the new firmware, the internet can be simultaneously navigated on the same tablet whilst being used for mixer control. The presence of four DCA Groups allows the grouping of input channels with a single level and mute control. Finally, RCF has created an Android version of the control app, with its own dedicated development. Like the iOS version, the mixer is fully accessible from the tablet and all functions are covered.
