Reactor condenser and Yeti Pro from Blue Microphones

Combining large-format capsule technology from Blue’s existing mic line-up, Reactor unites its pattern selection method with a swiveling capsule head for precise positioning. Featuring Blue’s condenser capsule and proprietary pre-amp circuit, Reactor allows for silent live switching between the three distinct patterns (cardioid, omni or bi-directional). Reactor’s sound can be tuned to specific uses such as vocals, guitar acoustics, and capturing the room frequencies of drums. Its capsule head rotates across a 90-degree range, facilitating ease-of-use in multiple mic setups such as Mid/Side or X-Y recording.

The manufacturer believes its Yeti Pro is the first USB microphone to combine 24-bit/192kHz digital recording resolution with an analogue XLR output. Yeti Pro employs an A-D converter chip allowing the flexibility to sample at a range of resolutions, from 22kHz up to 192kHz, and the common sampling rates in-between.

The new model offers XLR recording with Blue’s custom condenser capsules set in a proprietary triple array, providing the flexibility of four recording patterns, (cardioid, omni, stereo, bi-directional) for studio or desktop recording. The USB microphone maintains the zero-latency headphone output with volume control for direct monitoring, adjustable microphone gain control, and features a mute button. Featuring a mic stand thread, it can be mounted on a stand or positioned at the desired angle with the included custom-designed desk stand.

Yeti Pro features separate circuit boards to maintain the integrity of the analogue and digital signal paths, and discrete electronic components for improved signal quality. Yeti Pro is PC and Mac compatible and includes an XLR stereo breakout cable for analogue recording.
