RME Ladyface tailor made for Asia

RME has released a special edition of its Babyface audio interface named the Ladyface. Available in pink, the manufacturer reports that the Ladyface has been custom designed for the Japanese and Asian markets.

Aside from its colour, the ‘manga-style’ Ladyface is completely identical to the Babyface, including all of the same drivers and features. Among them is a limited edition interface which includes a digital I/O with up to 192kHz support, and is alternatively usable as an ADAT port or optical SPDIF I/O.

When combined with an ADAT converter, the Ladyface provides a total of 10 analogue input and 12 analogue output channels. The bus-powered USB audio interface also incorporates two analogue recording channels and four analogue playback channels, plus Midi I/O. Meanwhile, the inclusion of SteadyClock jitter suppression technology reportedly ensures that AD- and DA-conversion is of the highest reference quality.

The Ladyface features one main control knob and two single buttons, facilitating direct desktop control for all typical studio tasks. Also, the special edition interface is compatible to USB 3.0 chipsets as well as connecting to a USB 2.0 bus, and has been designed to provide an efficient performance under both Windows and Mac OS systems due to the fact that it utilises customised firmware for both operating systems.

The incorporation of an additional instrument input reportedly allows for the recording of any instrument without the need for any extra external hardware, which is achieved by switching one analogue input to Hi-Z mode.

The Ladyface integrates TotalMix FX, RME’s DSP hardware mixer. This works with an internal resolution of 46bit and adds effects such a three-band parametric equalizer, reverb and echo to the mix. The package includes a white carry-bag, white USB and breakout cables, and a white HiFi breakout cable with four unbalanced golden RCA connectors.
