Salzbrenner Stagetecs IEPS described as broadcaster must have

Salzbrenner Stagetec’s Intelligent Emergency Playout System (IEPS) is a fully automated emergency and backup solution described as a ‘must have’ for radio and DAB broadcasters. It is designed to ensure there will never be an ‘off-air’ situation.

The IEPS works by having a Nexus audio router detect if any audio input signal level has dropped to a pre-determined low level within a specified period of time. It will switch the audio from the main input channel to the secondary or standby audio channel to be sent to the output. In this case, an alarm will be activated.

In the instance that the secondary input channel also fails, the Nexus audio router will trigger Zenon Media to start the emergency playout automation. If there is no secondary input, it will automatically trigger the Zenon Media to start the emergency playout automation after the main input signal chain failed. A manual bypass option is also available for this situation.

When the main (or secondary) input audio signal is rectified, Nexus will switch back the original route and the Zenon Media playout automation will stop and return to a pre-determined playlist.

Suitable for small or large broadcasters, the manufacturer describes it as a ‘must have’ due to the fact that it is fully automated without the need for intervention from the users.

The 6RU system supports a broadcaster’s existing radio automation system and reportedly supports all audio formats and audio files available in the broadcasting industry.
