Shure targets the corporate sector with Microflex Wireless

Shure’s Microflex Wireless (MXW) is a new wireless solution for high-end corporate boardroom and meeting room environments. MXW offers A/V integrators and consultants an extensive feature set in various innovative form factors, allowing them to find a tailored solution for their project.

MXW provides a complete system of products including wireless microphone transceivers (a mix of transmitter and receiver), docking chargers, access point transceivers and multi-channel networking interfaces. The bodypack includes a built-in microphone, handheld, boundary, and desktop base, and is particularly suited for sites where A/V and IT teams manage conferencing solutions that span rooms, floors and even buildings.

All MXW components are fully networked via standard Ethernet (TCP/IP) which allows for status monitoring of all system elements including real-time battery conditions as well as remotely changing the gain of the microphones. For easy integration, MXW is compatible with AMX, Crestron and other touchscreen controllers, it readily interconnects with teleconferencing audio and other sound processors. The browser-based Microflex Wireless Control software automates key features such as system setup, and is password-protectable.

MXW delivers digital audio carried by Dante over standard Ethernet using shielded Cat-5 cables. In-unit recharging is possible with the Li-Ion batteries which provide 10 hours of life. For privacy in sensitive installation environments, Shure MXW employs Advanced Encryption Standard AES-256.

If required, integrators could easily install up to 40 compatible channels in one room depending on the region.

In other news, Shure has announced that it is now possible to perform discovery and patching operations for Shure ULX-D digital wireless system receivers (such as the ULXD4D and ULXD4Q) from Yamaha CL series consoles via a Dante network. With the recent CL series firmware version 1.6 and ULX-D firmware version 1.3 releases, it is possible to control discovery and patching for the receivers directly from CL console touch panel displays, without the need for the Dante Controller PC software that is currently required.
