Xavtel has put an emphasis on simple setup for the latest addition to its Senator family, the Senator-AEC. Designed for the unified communications and collaboration sector, the manufacturer states that the solution ‘provides all the features of a DSP-based conference system in a platform that virtually anyone can setup’. To back up this claim, the manufacturer explains that once the integrator has connected all the hardware, the auto-calibrate function will calculate and deliver the optimum gain before feedback.
Once setup has been completed, Senator-AEC offers a variety of specifications aimed at distance conferencing. It offers an AEC card embedded in the main processor as well as VoIP and SIP functionality. In addition to this, the unit offers a USB connection to connect to a PC/laptop, meaning that soft-phone applications such as Skype can be supported. Other practical functions include a built-in dialler, internal phone book, and a USB recording function.
Management of the solution is offered via the optional CDM-T5. This is a touchscreen-based chairman unit that provides system and participant control.
Changing product lines, Xavtel has also announced the launch of the first two members of its Octo series of DSPs. Octo Jr is an entry-level unit with 6x6 fixed I/O plus two sets of 4-channels and an E-Slot card slot, which reportedly allows I/O configurations up to 14x14. The DSP also features a USB audio connection, a message player and offers streaming in/out.
Moving up in scale, Octo Sr is a cascadable DSP with either DL (Digi-Link – 16-channels) or XN (Xavnet100MB – 64-channels) audio networking cards on board. The Octo Sr comes with four 4-channel I/O card slots and reportedly allows for a variety of analogue audio and special I/O, thanks to the 11 different I/O cards to choose from. Using the digital Octo-Link8-Card, I/O configurations of up to 32x32 are possible.
Returning to the simple setup theme, the manufacturer states that multi-room applications can be quickly achieved thanks to the Octo-Link connections. A variety of RWD-devices and an Octo-Amp (2x20W) can be connected to all Octo processors using the connections with Cat-5/6 cable up to 250m. Ethernet, RS-232/485 allow for third party control and programming.
