Smaller Qus at Allen & Heath
Published: PRODUCTS
Allen & Heath has expanded its Qu compact digital range with the Qu-SB ultra-compact intelligent mixer. Designed as a stagebox solution, the Qu-SB comes with all the features offered in the Qu series but has been purely designed for tablet control, allowing the user to mix from anywhere in the venue. The freestanding or rackmount surfaceless mixer features 16 XLR mic inputs, two line inputs and 14 outputs, which can be expanded up to 32 mic input channels and 24 outputs owing to the Qu-32 core inside. This enables the mixer to connect over a single Cat-5 digital snake to AB168, AR84 and AR2412 remote audio racks.
Having eliminated the on-deck user interface, all control parameters are featured on an iOS tablet app, for which user permissions can be set up to block the operator’s access to critical settings. The built-in 18-channel Qu-Drive can record and playback multitrack and stereo audio .WAV files to a USB key or drive, enabling computer-free recording in live and field applications. In addition, the Qu-SB’s 32x32, Windows and Mac compliant USB streaming interface promotes its use as a tracking, monitoring and overdubbing tool in the studio. Qu-SB can also be used for personal monitoring via the Qu-You iPhone app or the ME-1 personal mixers. Other features include automatic mic mixing, footswitch controls and the iLive FX suite.
