Sommer Cable’s Tricone XXL is ‘a team to be beaten’

Sommer Cable has released the Tricone XXL instrument patch cable and jack plug, described as providing a ‘clear and punchy’ sound.
Available in black, blue and red, the cable’s capacitance has been optimised for a loss-free treble reproduction, including over longer distances. Described as providing ‘100 per cent optical coverage’, the CU mesh screen and the conductive carbon screen ensure protection against interference hum. The company’s ‘long life compound jacket’ reportedly gives the Tricone XXL a high tread resistance and tensile strength, whilst a thick PE foam insulation is firmly surrounded and locked in place by a carbon screen.
The Tricone XXL jack plug is processed without any soldering or gas, ensuring permanently low and constant transfer resistance values. The plug features dual hexagonal crimping, engineered to take high tensile forces of up to 230 newtons.
The company also offers a plug-in or screw version of the Tricone XXL jack connector, intended for ‘do-it-yourself’ assembly on location. Sommer Cable also offers silicon colour rings for individual labelling, which may be fixed using two-barrel grooves.
