Sony adds to XDCAM and NXCAM ranges

Sony has expanded its XDCAM HD422 format with the addition of a new PMW-150 handy camcorder. The PMW-150 is equipped with ⅓-inch type Exmor Full HD 3CMOS sensors and reportedly demonstrates high sensitivity and low noise compared to the other ⅓-inch type camcorders. It comes with a 20 times zoom lens with focal length 29.5-590mm and is capable of shooting wide angle from a distance. The lens is equipped with three independent rings for focus, zoom and iris adjustment with full manual control, plus an image stabilising function with shift lens mechanism.

The PMW-150 is capable of shooting in 1080/50i, 1080/25P, 720/50P, 720/25P or PAL. It features a four-position built-in ND filter switch  and a Slow & Quick motion function which enables capture at 1fps to 60fps in 720p mode, and from 1fps to 30fps in 1080p mode. The PMW-150 also comes with a 15s cache recording feature meaning a recording can be started up to 15s before pushing the record button.

A Genlock In and Time Code In/Out interface helps the PMW-150 link with multiple cameras, and the camera also records to SxS memory cards as well as customer media like SDHC, Memory Stick and XQD. Additionally, the PMW-150 is Wi-Fi remote control capable. By attaching the CBK-WA01 Wi-Fi adaptor module, lens plus white balance and playback controls are possible from compatible mobile devices.

The PMW-50 SxS field gear supports XDCAM HD422 video production in the field. It allows users to playback and view content recorded on an SxS memory card, copy the data on an SxS card to other storage devices, record an external SDI signal or convert a signal from SDI to i.LINK. Via USB and i.LINK interfaces, both file-based and streaming operations can be supported.

The latest additions to Sony’s NXCAM range of professional video products are the NEX-EA50H and NEX-EA50K. The new camcorders feature the interchangeable E-mount lens system and the large format Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor. The sensor enables 1080 progressive and interlace recording with 60/50Hz selection.

The Sony E-mount interchangeable lens system enables auto focus, auto exposure and stabilisation during video shooting. With its short flange back distance, it is possible to attach A-mount lenses via the lens mount adapter LA-EA2, but also a choice of other brands lenses using third-party adapters.

The NEX-EA50H camcorder comes with the newly developed Power Zoom E-mount lens E PZ 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 OSS SELP18200. It features auto focus, continuous variable iris and Optical Steady Shot image stabilisation with Active Mode. It is electronically controlled by both the zoom rocker lever on the camcorder grip and the camera handle. The NEX-EA50K camcorder comes with the Manual Zoom E-mount lens E 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 OSS SEL18200 which gives users auto focus, continuous variable iris and Optical Steady Shot image stabilisation with Active Mode.

The NEX-EA50H and NEX-EA50K feature a range of professional functions such as two-channel XLR audio, linear PCM audio, time code, user bit and built-in GPS. In Addition, Sony’s HXR-FMU128 flash memory unit can dock directly to the camcorder for simultaneous backup recording, and the new Mirroring Memory Stick can be used.
