Soundfield adds App to DSF-3 processor

UK-based manufacturer Soundfield has released an App for use with its DSF-3 digital surround processor. Named the DSF-3 Remote, the application runs standalone on a PC platform and offers computer-based control of the processor over USB.
The DSF-3 was originally designed to process audio captured by the manufacturer’s DSF-2 digital microphone system and convert it to simultaneously output six-channel 5.1 surround sound and two-channel stereo. However, the new application includes a number of new processing parameters that are not accessible from the hardware unit’s front panel. Among them is Snap Tilt, a means of 'virtually tilting' the front and rear of the microphone without having to physically move it.
Other features in the application include the ability to alter the microphone’s polar pattern for the front, centre and rear channels, user-definable delay on the rear surround channels, and an audio zoom control which allows users to virtually close in on or zoom out of sections of the audio soundstage in post-production. Save and recall for all parameters is also available.
The application is available as a free download for all DSF-3 owners via the Soundfield website.
