SSL DV adds more Gravity

SSL DV has added the Axio automation scheduler for the Gravity Media Asset Management system to its Gravity Control software set.

The scheduler is intended to allow operators to create complex automation schedules for replay via Gravity Decoders and Air Server units.

The software can reportedly control up to 500 decoders or air servers from a single screen, with users able to locate and position content on individual, horizontally oriented channel tracks. Repetitive elements can be automatically inserted into the playlist via time and date rules and applied up to 10 years in advance. Integration with standard traffic solutions is supported via MOS, XML, or TXT files. Multiple AXIO UI’s can also run on the same system.

Elsewhere, the company has announced the integration of the Snell Morpheus Automation and Media Management (M3) systems family of PC based applications with Gravity Media Asset Management. Morpheus Automation features Snell’s Media Ball system, which reportedly ‘manages everything from simple server playout to complex channels where schedules are changing regularly’.

Version two of the Gravity Final Cut Pro (FCP) plug-in has also been launched. The new plug-in allows all browser-based and import stories in Gravity to import into FCP, while Gravity information can now be displayed on audio envelopes, motion effects, dissolves, images and slates for stories.

Finally, the company has released Pixi web editing tools which allow a remotely located user to display more information and edit clips through a standard web browser program. ‘We designed Gravity Web Client and Web Mobile applications to allow anyone with web access to upload, download and search Gravity files from anywhere around the world,’ explained Shaun McTernan, vice president of marketing for SSL DV. ‘Pixi is the latest entry, giving the power to perform editing functions remotely. A field producer or director can now be a part of the editing process in the field.’

The system allows users to access files, assemble clips and subclips into playlists, and reorder clips in a timeline using drag and drop on the proxy file level. Previewing is also supported as well as the exporting of pre-produced workflows, including dissolves and slate, between each item.
