SSL integrates audio playout with C-Play
Published: PRODUCTS

Solid State Logic has introduced its new integrated C-Play audio playout system for the C100 HDS and C10 HD consoles. The launch is intended to ‘remove the need for dedicated playout systems’.
C-Play embeds a fully featured dual player spot and music playout system into both of the manufacturer’s digital broadcast consoles, facilitating a more streamlined workflow for end-users. The system boasts one 5.1 player and one stereo player which can be independently assigned to any console channel. Once assigned, the Channel Info screens show the currently selected cut, duration and playback status, including time remaining and end warning flash.
Audio files are stored in a shared network location while a bulk import function has been incorporated to further ease workflow. Non-destructive editing is also included via the Cut Creation interface, and dedicated playlists can be created with comprehensive one shot, sequential or automated playback plus crossfades and playlist looping.
Each Player has three different playback control options in the shape of ‘C-Play’ mode, which provides a list view, ‘FreePlay’ mode, which offers a 16 button touchscreen interface where multiple cuts can be triggered simultaneously, and ‘PlayList’ mode, which uses the list view interface for location, selection and start/stop/retrigger of playlists. Playback can also be controlled using fader start.
C-Play is the latest of SSL’s range of integrated production assistant features, joining Dialogue Automix, 5.1 Upmix, DAW Control and Production Automation Interfacing. It is available as part of the C100 HDS V4 and C10 HD V3 Software Upgrade release.
Also new from the manufacturer is an RTAS version of its Duende Native plug-in collection. The release addresses limitations reported by users of Pro Tools when the using the existing collection’s included RTAS wrapper, and the native plug-ins are described by SSL as the ‘first fruits’ of the company becoming an Avid Development Partner.
The RTAS versions of the plug-ins are available through the SSL website where existing owners can download the new versions free of charge.
