Steinberg issues VST 35 for developers

Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH has released the Virtual Studio Technology (VST), version 3.5 software development kit (SDK) for virtual instruments and effects.

VST creates a professional studio environment on a PC or a Mac computer, reportedly allowing seamless integration of virtual effect processors and instruments into the VST host application.

Steinberg’s Cubase 6 features Note Expression, which relies thoroughly on VST 3.5. The module facilitates compatible instruments, such as the HALion Sonic SE included in Cubase, to automatically transfer the articulation setup of each individual instrument sound to a VST Expression Map.

Providing a new, XML-based controller interface for exporting and grouping plug-in parameters, the VST modules add individual context menu entries for customized configuration.

The latest SDK is accessible for download from the Steinberg website.
