Steinberg reveals USB 2.0 desktop interfaces plus HALion expansion

Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH has launched two USB 2.0 equipped desktop interfaces in the shape of the 6-in, 8-out UR28M and the 24 I/O rack-mountable UR824. The two models, both of which include dspMixFx technology powered by Yamaha’s SSP2 DSP chip, mark the beginning of Steinberg’s new range of USB 2.0 products.

According to the manufacturer, the two models boast ‘no latency whatsoever’ for monitoring, and include features such as D-Pre microphone preamps and DSP reverb and channel strip effects. The UR824 includes eight Neutrik combo inputs, eight TRS outputs and two pairs of ADAT I/O doubling as S/PDIF, plus Word clock I/O. The UR28M offers two Neutrik combo inputs, two TRS inputs, six TRS outputs and S/PDIF I/O. An additional two-track input is available for monitoring reference sources.

Also new from the German developer is a VST expansion pack for HALion 4, HALion Sonic and HALion Sonic SE. Named Triebwerk, the pack includes 430 presets for genres such as pop and house including synth, bass, pads, FlexPhrases and drum sounds.
