Studer adopts Axia Livewire AoIP standard

As a result of various consultations with its customers regarding a new product strategy, Studer has announced that it has adopted the Axia Livewire AoIP standard, a broadcast networking system which utilises Ethernet to provide an easy way to route and share audio.
The manufacturer states that this decision ties into it embracing an ‘open standards’ philosophy as it begins to launch more broadcast systems. Under the Livewire Limitless License (L3) introduced in 2011, Studer is licensed to build a Livewire interface into any or all of its products, allowing instant one-cable connection to Axia networks and products from more than 30 other Livewire hardware and software partners.
Meanwhile, Studer has also introduced Vista Remote Access for its Vista line of digital mixing consoles, designed to allow Vista owners to access and manage a console from anywhere in the world at any time.
Utilising a closed network to ensure maximum system security, Remote Access is designed to be simple to set up, and offers technical support from Studer engineers. The system can be used to address and support anything from system setup and configuration, to real-time screening of log files, to identifying problems with the Vista system.
Vista owners select a PC or laptop as the Remote Access interface, then the chosen computer hosts a third-party Remote Access application and the Studer Virtual Network Connection (VNC). A Studer technician uses the VNC connection as the secure portal to access the owner’s Vista system, (without exposing it to the internet or any form of open network), giving them monitoring and control capabilities from their location.
Studer is keen to state that Vista customers can utilise Remote Access at any point of ownership. The latest software is available as a free upgrade, and is available for the Vista 5, Vista 5 SR, Vista 8, and Vista 9 consoles that run V4.2.00 software or higher.
