Symnet Solus offers open architecture DSP for smaller installs

Described by the manufacturer as ‘powerful and cost-effective’, the Symnet Solus is a new standalone open architecture DSP which couples SymNet processing with cost-saving fixed input and output counts for small to medium sized installations.

The Solus 4 and Solus 8 each boasts Ethernet, ARC port, RS-232 port, two control inputs, and four logic outputs. Solus 4 has four mic/line (+phantom) inputs and four outputs, whereas Solus 8 has eight mic/line (+phantom) inputs and eight outputs. The Solus processors forego input/output expansion in favour of reduced cost.

Paul Roberts, vice president of sales and marketing said: ‘There are many situations where the all-encompassing capabilities of the SymNet 8x8 DSP and its kin are overkill. The Solus processor is a happy medium. It is the most cost-effective SymNet solution to date for jobs that call for standalone open-architecture DSP’.

Both the Solus software and hardware fully support Symetrix ARC wall panels and SymVue, as well as third party control systems.

Meanwhile, the manufacturer has released the Jupiter App Finder, which is designed to help users easily navigate through the manufacturer’s library of online apps.

Users have the option of comparing up to four apps side-by-side, and in both the full list view and the comparison view, users can click on a thumbnail of an app's main screen to view a block diagram (signal flow).

Finally, Jupiter App Notes has been launched on the Symetrix website. The App Notes feature a specific application or venue, and show users how to use Jupiter apps within that specific situation.
