TC Electronic releases DB6 AES alongside v1.30 software update

TC Electronic has released an updated version of its DB6 Intelligent Loudness Management system. The new unit contains the same exact feature set as the previous version, but is now available with unbalanced AES inputs and outputs on its rear panel.

Built primarily for broadcasters, the AES version of the DB6 allows users to route only the audio through the system without also sending the video. The unit comes loaded with 16 physical channels of unbalanced AES I/O, and by default the first 8 channels are active. Should the station need to use additional channels, a license for activating channels 9-16 can be purchased separately.

A new software update for the DB6 is also available. With the latest v1.30 software, broadcasters are able to recall up to 16 scene presets by using GPI 1 and 2 together. The unit offers a variety of ways to engage or disengage processing automatically – depending on format, level, physical inputs – while remote control can be achieved via Ethernet, GPI, SDI metadata.

The GPI implementation offers switching between up to 16 scene presets using only two of its four GPI inputs. Based on this, the product may be controlled during play-out, or a preset selection panel can be designed.

Additionally, it is now possible to control DB6 by multiple instances of the ICON remote, and it is also possible to copy entire user preset banks to or from files stored on a PC or Mac.
