TC Electronic showcases new loudness products

TC Electronic has announced software update version 1.25 for its DB2 Loudness Correction processor.
Version 1.25 contains ITU BS.1770-2 based loudness adjustment plus dedicated new factory presets for stations conforming to either of the EBU R128, ATSC A/85, TR-B32 or OP59 standards. The new software also introduces one-pass trickle-down processing from these new broadcast standards to help optimise simulcasts for mobile and IPTV. Trickle-down processing is an audio-conscious way of dealing with multiple broadcast platforms without increasing the station workload.
The software upgrade also features a new Mobile preset bank, which offers high-resolution on-the-fly conversion of content for mobile broadcast. The DB2’s 48-bit domain one-step process reportedly ensures mobile and iPod audio intelligibility ‘at the highest possible quality’.
The new software version 1.25 is free of charge to all DB2 users, including an update of the remote application, Icon.
Also new from the manufacturer is its AM6 plug-in meter for Pro Tools HD. Together, with TC Electronic’s LM5D Plug-in for Pro Tools HD, the two products combine to create the new Radar Meter Bundle for Pro Tools HD.
According to the manufacturer, TC Electronic’s radar display is ‘a fast track to upgrade audio production for broadcast, film and music from unsatisfactory peak level indicators to loudness based metering’. The new AM6 plug-in makes the radar available for also controlling trailers and commercials in cinema production.
Measurements are based on Leq(M), and AM6 conforms to the TASA standard, which is used by authorities such as MPAA to certify theatrical trailers. Further, additional features include 5.1 true-peak metering, scalable timing, scalable resolution and more.
The new AM6 Radar Annoyance Meter for Pro Tools HD will be protected by the same iLok license as LM5D for Pro Tools HD, which means that existing users will be able to download and use the new AM6 Radar Annoyance Meter for free.
