The Audio Precision test

The APx1701 Transducer Test Interface has been designed by Audio Precision to provide production designers and test engineers with an accurate understanding of their electro-acoustic devices, integrating amplifiers and microphone power supplies.

For use with amplifiers, the test interface possesses a signal-to-noise ration of 134dB and provides 20dB of fixed-gain amplification from direct current to 100kHz. The APx1701 has a residual of THD+N ≤ -106dB in the 10Hz to 20kHz frequency range, with a response of 0.08dB. Included are power amplifiers configured as two independent channels, each with power ratings of up to 100W into 8-ohms.

The APx1701 also features pairs of balanced and unbalanced mic inputs for use with microphones as either measurement mics, or as a device under test. The balanced mic inputs include switchable 48V phantom power, whereas the unbalanced inputs are TEDS capable (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet) and support switchable CCP (Constant Current Power).

In order to assist with ever-complicated testing scenarios, such as where the need exists repeatedly switch measurement instruments, the APx1701 is integrated with its manufacturer’s APx500 software. This provides a platform for evaluating the performance of electro-acoustic services and any digital or analogue components when paired with an APx500 Series analyser.
