The clock strikes one for Clair Brothers

Following in the footsteps of the 12AM stage monitor, Clair Brothers has added two new ‘One Series’ stage monitors to its catalogue.

The 1AM single 12-inch monitor is based upon a coaxial design providing 40-degrees (horizontal) x 60-degree (vertical) coverage with one common source point for both the low and high frequencies. Weighing 22.7kg, the multipurpose cabinet embodies all of the necessary characteristics of a stage monitor in addition to hosting features that enable its use as a compact point source speaker, including three handles, an integral pole mount and M10 rigging points. Operating within a frequency range of 60Hz to 18kHz (±2dB), the 1AM is housed in Baltic birch and finished in black polyurea.

The 1AM+ breaks new ground for Clair Brothers as it is the first self-powered monitor speaker to be developed by the US manufacturer. This model incorporates a 2-channel 3,200W amplifier module within its design including internal DSP loudspeaker processing (crossover, EQ and limiter). Four factory presets specifically designed for various applications are available.

The 1.5AM is a 15-inch coaxial model that incorporates a 4-inch diaphragm HF driver and 15-inch woofer with a 4-inch voice coil. The dedicated stage monitor is slightly larger and 4.5kg heavier than the 1AM as it has been created as a more powerful monitor, capable of operation down to 55Hz (±2dB). Sharing the same coaxial design and high frequency horn (60-degrees x 40-degrees) as the 1AM, the 1.5AM also features acoustic filters that reportedly optimise the magnitude and phase response between the coaxial components in the crossover region.

Additionally, the 5CX and 8CX are new coaxial speakers incorporating 5- and 8-inch transducers respectively. Constructed of 15mm Baltic birch and weighing 3.6kg and 9.5kg respectively, the 5CX and 8CX models have been designed for high fidelity, small-format point source applications.

Aimed at speech and music reproduction and operating within an 85Hz to 20kHz (-10dB) frequency range, both feature a 70-degree conic constant directivity horn. A 100-degree conic horn is available and for near field coverage applications.

Whilst the 8CX includes 12 integral rigging points in addition to an integrated pole mount, both models host a number of mounting accessories including horizontal and vertical mounting brackets, threaded stud plates, pipe clamp mounts, chain rigging points, low profile pan/tilt brackets and array mode top-bar style plates.
