Time-saving Fast Track C Series from Avid

The Fast Track C400 and Fast Track C600 are new USB interfaces from Avid. Incorporating a new, ‘desktop-friendly’ design intended to provide easy access to key controls, the range is designed to enable musicians to deliver better quality recordings in less time.

An assignable multi button delivers ‘hands-on’ software control to enable musicians to maintain their creative flow, and the Fast Track C600 features additional re-assignable transport controls. According to the manufacturer, ‘superior’ converters, redesigned analogue signal paths, and 24-bit/96 kHz audio fidelity ensures professional quality recordings. Meanwhile, a monitor management system enables a user to compare mixes on multiple sets of studio monitors.

Onboard MX Core DSP technology supplies reverb and delay on headphone outputs, delivering low-latency monitoring without draining a host computer. Each interface is available as a bundle with Pro Tools MP software, or as a standalone unit.

In addition to this announcement, Avid has also released EuControl 2.6.1, a software and firmware update for its Artist Series, MC Pro, and System 5-MC controllers.

This update offers full compatibility with Apple’s new Lion OS, and includes several performance improvements, such as firmware fixes to eliminate fader slam and jitter issues.

Lastly, the manufacturer has announced that Media Composer 6 is now available. The latest version is a faster, more powerful 64-bit application and incorporates an Avid open I/O.

Other new features include Stereoscopic 3D and Avid Artist Color, as well as the ability to create 5.1 and 7.1 surround mixes directly within Media Composer, a comprehensive set of editorial tools, new mixer features and support for additional Pro Tools hardware, a new interface, ProRes support on a Mac or a PC, and various keyframe improvements.
