Toa’s new digital stereo mixer brings an analogue feel

Toa Corporation is shipping the M-864D digital stereo mixer, which maintains the basic functionality and operability of its predecessor, the M-633D. However, the new model comes with an analogue-feel fader operation, 15 input channels, remote controller operation and fine-tuning of settings with GUI software promoting a faster setup and more efficient operation.

The M-864D includes the Automatic Resonance Control (ARC) measurement and processing algorithm that improves speech intelligibility and sound quality in facilities with challenging acoustic environments. Additional audio processing tools include Feedback Suppressor (FBS), Parametric Equaliser, Tone Control and Automatic Mute.

Various signal routing and parameter configurations can be stored and recalled as a preset memory, and up to 16 preset memories can be stored. Optional remote control panels (ZM-9011/9012/9013/9014) provide remote operation and feature an assign function for settings as volume control, channel ON/OFF, matrix switching and preset memory recall to specified buttons.

The PW Series of Plane Wave Speakers comprises eight models in single or double-sided radiation type, compact or large size and black or light ivory color. The flat speaker system is equipped with a plane wave unit consisting of a diaphragm, buffer, magnet and case enabling the radiation of sound in narrow horizontal and vertical directivity patterns.

The speakers are particularly suited for information broadcast applications which require narrow sound directivity, such as transportation hubs where different announcements are made in close proximity. A built-in beam-tilting function makes it possible to alter sound radiation direction 5-degrees downward of the horizontal axis. This allows more flexibility in installation as it improves sound intelligibility when the speakers are mounted high.

Another feature is the high pass filter in which unwanted low frequencies below 450Hz are cut at -12dB/octave. The plane wave unit casing and the entire speaker cabinet are made of stainless steel, making the speaker rust-resistant. Compliant with IPX4, the speakers are protected against splashing water and are suitable for use in a covered outdoor space.
