Transmission quality boost as Wisycom hits the stage

Specifically designed for in-ear monitoring applications, Wisycom has created a true diversity IEM receiver in the form of the MPR50-IEM. Based on the MPR30-IEM, the MPR50-IEM boasts a user-friendly interface and a new ENS compander that caters for live shows. The Italian manufacturer claims that this significantly increases audio transmission quality when complex data – such as full songs and instruments – are transferred. As the main function of the previous system, vocal transmission has also been improved with the development of the MPR50-IEM.

Furthermore, channel switching capabilities have reportedly been enhanced, allowing the user to switch from IEM to IFB mode with a click on the menu. The unit is also equipped with a quick lock volume control to set a maximum level, thus protecting the ears from an accidental volume increase. The unit’s LED lights can be edited with display independent brightness selections. Like the MPR30-IEM, the MPR50-IEM features a true diversity configuration with two whip antennas, together with a wideband tuning range up to 232MHz and an audio peak-dynamic of 200mW. The receiver also features dedicated function buttons including frequency scan.

Operating in a wide UHF bandwidth reportedly generating narrowband modulations with low spurious emissions, the MTK952 dual transmitter has received a firmware update integrating Wisycom’s new ENS compander, enabling collaboration with the MPR50-IEM and MPR30-IEM. Added functionality in the form of factory presets speed up setup during on-location broadcasts, whilst the new menu options can be controlled through the hardware.
