Update to dot2 brings new customisation options

In a bid to streamline workflows, MA Lighting has added a host of new features with the version 1.2 update to its dot2 lighting console software. These include customisable fixture layout views, multi-patch fixture functionality, additional playback options, assignable DMX ports, auto backup, fader position identification, remote inputs with pages, extended programmer views and effects representation. The software update also offers export functionality for fixture types, or conventional fixtures with shapers inside dot2 3D.

Looking at the new functionality in more detail, five customisable fixture layout views are now available for the series. The multi-patch fixture functionality works for the DMX patch inside the console, as well as the representations of fixtures in the dot2 3D. In addition, the executor operation reportedly offers easier content sharing between the main and other executors, with all having additional swap and temp fader functionality.

The assignable DMX ensures that any of the ports on all devices can be assigned to any of the DMX universes patched inside the console. The Auto Backup functionality allows the user to set a timer to automatically backup operation of the show file, while the fader position feature mean that if the real position of a hardware fader differs from its logical position, a small fader bar is displayed to show the logical, correct position.

Finally, remote inputs can also be assigned to specific pages, where the programmer view shows effect values in red. All fixtures and pre-sets that are containing effect values are then marked with a magenta marker.
