USB-Pro and JCP DI Box from Radial Engineering

Designed to convert sound files from a laptop computer and transfer them to a pair of balanced audio outputs, the USB-Pro is a plug and play device, automatically configuring itself for use with Mac OS X and Windows XP, Vista, and 7.

It features 24-bit, 96kHz stereo convertors, a USB type-B port, a built-in amplifier, and a mono-sum switch for checking phase correlation and handling signal distribution. Two ‘set and forget’ side-access switches allow for the insertion of isolation transformers to block stray DC voltage offsets, augmented with a ground lift switch that lifts pin-1 on the two XLRs.

In addition to the USB-Pro, Radial’s new JPC is described as ‘a two channel hybrid active DI that has been specifically designed for use with computer sound cards, audio visual post systems and electronic media’.

The box employs 48V phantom power while providing passive isolation transformers at the input, as well as ¼-inch and ⅛-inch stereo ring-tip-sleeve inputs, and two stereo sets of RCA inputs. The input connectors may be used as thru-puts should a signal split be required. A -15dB input pad prevents hot signals from overloading the unit.

On the output panel, features include two balanced XLR mic level outputs and a ground lift switch. The JCP is housed in a 14-gauge, I-Beam steel frame with a bookend cover and baked enamel finish.
