Versatile controlled amplifier from Equipson’s Work

Equipson-brand Work has released a new versatile remotely controlled amplifier named Work DCA 1. Suitable for a range of applications, the product can receive remote instructions by RS232 or RS485 via ASCII, or even using a DMX.

The two-channel DCA 1 is designed to suit the varying needs of integrators for applications such as restaurants and small shops. It incorporates a total of eight mono inputs – one of which includes mic selectable priority – and boasts a double output of 120W and 120W RMS with terminals.

The reason its operating modes are so different is because an integrated micro-processor is able to set up an eight-input, two-output matrix, which the manufacturer likens to having two totally independent amplifiers. Therefore, the DCA 1 has stereo and a parallel operating modes, and each output can be configured in a combination of input signals totally independent from one another.

In an additional release, the manufacturer has released a low-weight amplifier specifically for touring applications named the Work Zenith 6000W. Based on the models from the brand’s existing units in the Zenith series, the new lower cost  ‘more advanced’ offering features more power with ranges that reach up to 6,000W at 4ohms bridged.

The model’s switching power supply is stabilised by a micro controller allowing for continuous power up to 8kW, whilst the design of the power supply allows for a high ripple current capacity to improve performance at low frequencies.

Meanwhile, its electronic circuit components have been manufactured with SMT technology in an effort to improve reliability, and it features three modes comprising stereo, bridge and parallel. With an input sensitivity selector of 26dB, the Work Zenith 6000W also provides protection against short circuits at the output and high temperatures.
