VTX multi-channel amplifiers from Cloud
Published: PRODUCTS
UK-based manufacturer Cloud Electronics has introduced the new VTX Series of high-power multi-channel amplifiers, describing the range as ‘achieving high quality acoustic performance across the long term’.
Comprising three 2U amplifiers, the VTX range offers three power level variants: the VTX4120 offers 4x120w, while the VTX4240 and VTX4400 offer 4x240w and 4x400w respectively, all into four ohms. Other features include VCA input modules for remote level control (RL-1) as standard, a switched hi-pass filter (18dB/oct below 65Hz) for each channel, and ‘extensive protection against short-circuit and reactive loads, clipping, DC and overheating’.
Crucial to the range’s appeal meanwhile is a claimed ‘industry best-in-class’ crosstalk performance of greater than 90dB, a feature intended to make the amplifier noise-free across all channels regardless of volume. All three models are configurable for four channel, dual stereo or mono use and include balanced line level inputs with gain trim.
The VTX range is also available with a previously announced and optional web monitoring card, the VTX-WM1. Designed to be retrofitted on all models, the card reportedly allows the amplifier’s performance and settings including internal temperature, signal level, PSU status, protection circuitry and remote volume levels to be monitored at a remote location using any computer, PDA or Smartphone via its internet browser application. It can also generate a test signal for the load impedance test, at one or more user-definable frequencies.
Other options include the RL-1 remote music level controller, and EQ cards for Bose and Amina loudspeakers.
