Waves announces AAX Native support

Waves Audio has announced that its plug-ins now support Avid’s AAX Native plug-in platform. The company has always tried to support as many platforms as possible, and this announcement reportedly follows customer demand for increased compatibility between Waves plug-ins and Pro Tools HDX systems.

Meanwhile, new REDD Console plug-ins have been announced following a collaboration between Waves and Abbey Road Studios. The plug-ins are based on emulations of the renowned Abbey Road consoles, famously designed and built by the studio’s Record Engineering Development Department.

Waves based the emulations on the REDD.17, which still belongs to Abbey Road Studios, and the REDD.37, which is now owned by musician Lenny Kravitz.

Finally, Waves has also launched its first-ever synthesiser, Element. Powered by ‘Virtual Voltage’ technology, Element is an analogue-style polyphonic instrument intended to deliver a classic sound with modern digital precision. Features include integrated effects, a 16-step arpeggiator/sequencer, Midi Learn and a customisable preset library. The synth was jointly developed by highly regarded London-based producer/engineer Yoad Nevo.
