WNS Noise Suppressor

The first in the new line of dedicated Waves Post Production tools, the WNS Noise Suppressor is a real-time multiband processor for broadband noise suppression on dialogue tracks.

Suitable for indoor and location dialogue recordings containing constant or modulating environment noise, WNS is intended for postproduction applications, and offers integration with Pro Tools, where it supports multiple simultaneous instances of operation, recall and automation. All processing takes place in-the-box, so there’s no loss in sound quality from I/O conversion. Features include zero latency for perfect picture sync, low CPU usage, multiple simultaneous instances, 24-bit, 192kHz resolution and Windows 7 and Mac OS-X compatibility. The low- and high-frequency settings determines the lowest and highest ranges of the noise suppression, while high-pass and low-pass filters attenuate components of a signal below or above the selected frequency.

The manufacturer is now shipping the WSG-Y16 mini-YGDAI SoundGrid I/O card for Yamaha mixing consoles. Together with a Waves SoundGrid Server (SGS), a Control PC and an authorised iLok with SoundGrid-compatible Waves plug-ins, the WSG-Y16 enables Yamaha consoles to process 16 channels of audio with Waves plug-ins. Additionally, the WSG-Y16 supports Midi for remote plug-in control directly from the console or external control surface. The WSG-Y16 offers 16-channel processing at 4.1kHz/48kHz (eight channels at 88.2kHz/96kHz), while two cards can be inserted for 32-channel processing.
