‘World first’ Madi monitor debuts from 4HM

4HM has announced the launch of the Madi-Mon, a 2U Madi audio and status monitor offering 32 pairs of balanced AES/EBU and unbalanced AES3-id available simultaneously for interconnection to broadcast routers, audio consoles or any other AES equipped devices.

Designed primarily for broadcast applications, the monitor has been designed to enable auditioning of embedded channels without the user needing to connect external routers or audio consoles. Crucially, it is also the first device to offer the interrogation of Madi streams via a dedicated data display including information such as sample frequency, frame data and status bits of each embedded stereo-pair.

Also onboard is bargraph metering for up to 32 stereo pairs (64 channels), plus ‘at-a-glance’ assurance of signal presence across the complete Madi stream, while the selection of stereo-pairs for audible monitoring is described by the manufacturer as ‘simple and intuitive’.

As the Madi-Mon can be used ‘in-line’ it provides both coaxial and optical Madi loop-through outputs. A redundant power supply is also included.
