XY Series gains most its powerful subwoofer yet

Pioneer’s XY Series has grown with a sub intended to complement the series’ XY-122 and XY-152 two-way speakers. A dual 18-inch, fully horn-loaded subwoofer, Pioneer’s XY-218HS has been designed to offer ultra-low frequencies at the high SPL required for larger venues or outside use.
The XY-218HS possesses a coiled horn that reportedly magnifies the sound from the woofer’s LF drivers, producing a bass response that covers a frequency range between 33Hz and 150Hz. According to the manufacturer, the sub can throw long distances without losing SPL.
Housed within a multi-laminate birch plywood enclosure, Pioneer states that the XY-218HS reduces resonance and distortion via its rigged support braces.
