Yamaha announces acoustic echo canceller card

Yamaha has unveiled an acoustic echo canceller card for DME24N/64N digital mixing engines.

According to the manufacturer, by using the new MY4-AEC card with a DME product A/V contractors will be able to maximize corporate boardroom and meeting room control functions in one or more locations with ‘no compromise in sound quality’.

The four-channel MY4-AEC has a maximum echo cancellation time (tail length) of 400ms. The card includes a matrix mixer that is able to mix four different locations for reference inputs, enabling features for remote conferencing applications when using Yamaha digital mixing engines DME24N and DME64N in single or multi-point meeting situations.

Also featured is a four-channel feedback suppressor with 42-band notch filters that automatically aid in eliminating feedback from PA systems. The MY4-AEC card functions at 48kHz and is compatible with a 96kHz-sampling rate when specific events require high-quality audio.

Both the DME24N and DME64N are compatible with the new version of DME Designer V4.0 software and are required for using MY4-AEC cards. A user can edit the parameters of the acoustic echo canceller with DME Designer.

The manufacturer has also announced the ‘unique’ Dugan-MY16 card for current Yamaha digital mixers and processors. The card is described as an ‘ideal’ solution for live for broadcast, corporate A/V, houses or worship and other sound reinforcement applications requiring automatic mic mix capabilities’.

The card offers 16 channels of automatic mic mixing at a reported 48kHz, or eight channels at 96kHz. Multiple Dugan-MY16 cards can be linked for use in larger system situations.
