Zooms H2n a new generation of portable recording
Published: PRODUCTS
Zoom’s ‘feature packed’ H2n handheld recorder features five studio-quality microphones designed to allow the user to record ‘pristine’ audio wherever they are.
The manufacturer describes the recorder as ‘remarkably easy to use in any application’.
The five-microphone design enables the H2n to offer four ‘unique’ recording modes. One of these is mid-side (MS) stereo, a technique used for many years in film and broadcast. The other three are 90-degree X/Y stereo, and two-channel and four-channel surround sound.
The H2n features a new data recovery function and a High-Speed USB 2.0 interface. Meanwhile, a 1.8-inch backlit LCD display for monitoring and a built-in reference speaker allows the user to playback recordings on the spot.
Enclosed in a ‘user friendly package that fits into your pocket’, the H2n can also be used as a USB microphone, which can record directly to a users computer. The unit reportedly provides over 20 hours of continuous operation on two AA alkaline batteries.
