Adamson unveils IS10 and IS119

WORLD: Having unveiled the IS7 and accompanying IS118 subwoofer at this year’s Pro Light + Sound exhibition, Adamson Systems Engineering opted to launch the latest additions to its newly developed IS installation series at an alternative venue in Orlando on the eve InfoComm 2017. The IS10 and IS119 were demonstrated at the Hard Rock Cafe at Universal Studios Resort alongside the IS7 and IS118 models that had been previously promoted in Frankfurt.

Over 150 attendees gathered to hear both sets of speakers played in a concert hall environment. ‘We prefer hosting such an event in a relaxed atmosphere outside InfoComm rather than at the show itself,’ explained marketing director James Oliver. ‘The dedicated audience that listened to both speaker systems here this evening enjoyed the occasion and we were happy too entertain our distinguished guests with some fine food and drink. We are promoting both systems on the show floor at InfoComm - we’re just not demonstrating them there.'

Incorporating an exterior design specifically developed for the architectural market, the Canadian manufacturer is offering architects and designers touring standard cabinets that blend into the aesthetics of a venue. Finished in standard white and black with other RAL colours available, IS cabinets comprise marine-grade birch plywood with aircraft-grade steel, equipped with NL4 connectors and screw terminals. They are further equipped with a recessed plate-and-screw rigging solution in the interior of the rear rigging fins, facilitating ease of installation. The full-range IS10 is a two-way line array cabinet containing two ND10-LM, 10-inch kevlar neodymium drivers with an NH4TA2, 1.4-inch exit compression driver. A critically optimised waveguide produces a slightly curved wavefront with a nominal dispersion pattern of 110° x 10° (H x V). The waveguide’s efficiency provides increased vertical dispersion without sacrificing HF presence in the far field, whilst the Controlled Summation Technology (CST) further eliminates the low-mid lobing normally associated with two-way line source systems.

The companion IS119 subwoofer is loaded with a long excursion 19-inch ND19 kevlar neodymium driver utilising Adamson’s Advanced Cone Architecture with a 5-inch voice coil. Mounted in a front-loaded enclosure, the IS119 has been designed to reproduce clean, musical low-frequency information. The grille profile of the IS119 has been replicated in the rear of the cabinet, allowing for cardioid deployments that appear visually identical from the audience’s perspective.
