AIMS membership experiences major international growth

WORLD: AIMS (Alliance for IP Media Solutions) has seen its membership increase with the addition of seven international companies. Avid, Dejero, Ikegami, IntoPIX, Matrox, NEC and TVU Networks all join the organisation as the broadcast industry migrates ever more towards IP technologies.

With a focus on adoption, standardisation, development and refinement of open protocols for media over IP, such as AES67, AIMS provides its members with guidance for transitioning to an IP solution, endorsing a plan supporting SMPTE 2022-6, AES67 and VSF’s TR-03 and TR-04.

‘The transition to IP is clearly the next great technology shift in the broadcast industry,’ noted Dejero CEO, Brian Cram. ‘We are excited to join and support the work being done by the AIMS community to encourage interoperability and accelerate this shift.’

‘The smooth transition to IP is going to depend on customer confidence in the interoperability of equipment,’ explained Avid’s vice president of platform and solutions, Tim Claman. ‘AIMS is making a major impact in facilitating and accelerating that process.’

‘Ikegami is eager to create a next generation broadcast eco-system with a belief in interoperability and open standards,’ said the manufacturer’s director of the board, global business promotion, Naoki Kashimura. ‘As IP based solutions play more of a key role, the more we will see the benefits of AIMS membership.’

‘The rapid and accelerating expansion of AIMS membership is embracing of specialist companies and large corporations,’ added AIMS chairman, Michael Cronk. ‘All share the commitment to the highest standards of technological development and an open standards approach to an IP based future. We sincerely welcome them all.’
