Bankruptcy reports emerge for SGM

WORLD: According to reports in Danish media, lighting manufacturer SGM has filed for bankruptcy. Since February 2012 the company, based in Aarhus with a staff of 85, has been under the ownership of entrepreneur Peter Johansen, who was the founder of Martin Professional in 1987.

Originally based in Cattolica on the Adriatic coast of Italy, SGM was acquired by RCF Audio in April 2009. In November 2010, RCF president Arturo Vicari announced the appointment of Peter Johansen as the new head of the research and development of SGM at a press conference in London. Mr Johansen subsequently acquired SGM in 2012, moving all the production to Denmark. Most recently, in May 2015, SGM announced the opening of a new subsidiary - SGM Nordic AB - in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The Danish state television channel TV2 reported that the legal representative of the company, Christian Jul Madsen had submitted offers to buy the entire company.
